Angels Explained by Children

My guardian angel helps me with math, but he’s not much good for science. – Henry, Age 8

Angels don’t eat, but they drink milk from Holy Cows. – Jack, Age 6

When an angel gets mad, he takes a deep breath and counts to ten. And when he lets out his breath, somewhere there’s a tornado. – Reagan, Age 10

What I don’t get about angels is why, when someone is in love, they shoot arrows at them. – Sarah, Age 7

My favorite………….

I only know the names of two angels. Hark and Harold – Gregory, Age 5

When you think of angels, what comes to mind? On the lighter side, I often think about Clarence, the “angel in training” trying to earn his angel wings, in the movie “It’s a Wonderful Life”. Clarence has been given an assignment to help George Bailey and it is wearing him out. I can’t help but laugh to myself and think, if I had an angel assigned to me, he would most likely decide it wasn’t worth getting the wings.

I recently read an article on biblical facts about angels. One of the facts that particularly spoke to me was “angels are examples for us.” Now before you say “duh”, let me explain further why this spoke to me.

Jesus teaches us to pray, “Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:10). In heaven, God’s will is done by angels, immediately, joyfully and without question. They delight to be God’s servants, faithfully performing their assigned tasks whether great or small. Shouldn’t our desire and prayer be that we would do the same?

What have you been tasked with today, this week? If you are like me, that list is long and even overwhelming some days. There never seems to be enough hours in the day to accomplish what we need to do, let alone what we want to do. It is easy to become overwhelmed, especially this time of year. We have a choice in how we respond to our tasks list. My prayer is that I will choose wisely and with a joyful heart that I have been given the gift of another day to work on my tasks; great or small.

What about you? Will you join me in praying the same?

Until next week……..Don’t forget to smile!
