Considering the overwhelming news coverage of the coronavirus I decided to share the above meme.
I am in no way diminishing the seriousness of the coronavirus, nor am I trying to make fun of it either. My intention is to try and lighten our thoughts and perspectives versus the panic and fear the media continues to instill in our minds daily through television and radio.
Also, it’s not just about the coronavirus scare. It’s about living in fear, dread and being panicked about things we deal with in everyday life. Things like job loss, a diagnosis, grief, loss of a marriage, caring for a handicapped child, anxiety and depression. On and on the list goes.
The enemy tells us these situations are out of control. It’s going to get worse. It’s hopeless.
I was thinking during my quiet time this week that living in fear and panic is not how we should be as God’s children. It is certainly not how He calls us to live. What do non-believers think when they see Christians in a state of fear, panic and living defeated? What kind of statement are we making about our faith?
I want to share some scriptures with you that I hope will help you as you deal with life’s day-to-day challenges.
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27
“I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.” Psalm 34:4
“When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy.” Psalm 94:19
“For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline. 2 Timothy 1:7
“When I am afraid I put my trust in you.” Psalm 56:3
I pray that we will live contagious lives. Contagious with joy. Contagious with compassion. Contagious with peace. Contagious with courage.
Until next week……. Don’t forget to smile (and wash your hands)!
